Saturday 18th June 2016 - Vs Bexleyheath 2nd XI
On a really miserable day weather wise I was asked to give my six pebbles an airing in the above Fixture. ODCuaco fielded first and whilst not having a lot of luck stuck to their task really well and contained what looked like a strong Bexleyheath side to about three an over for the first 35 – 40 overs due to some tight bowling and some really excellent fielding.
The Team were helped by the presence of a National DJ who had a ready quip for every ball until a misfile struck him below the belt and quietened him for an over or two. But he was soon back to his best albeit an octave a bit higher.
The opposition took the game to us at the end of their innings and with wickets in hand were able to take a few risks which paid off and they finished with 181 for 9 in their 50 overs.
We chose to play a few fancy shots and paid the price. We still had nearly 17 overs left when we were all out for 81 against a decent bowling attack. A bit more application would have made Bexleyheath’s victory a little more difficult to come by.

Saturday 3rd July 2016 - Vs Old Elthamians 2nd XI
ODCuaco 189 - 6 Old Elthamians 193 - 5
On being asked to umpire the second half of the game I got to the ground early just in case we batted first. However I was delighted to arrive when we 130 for 2 with 200 looking good. However instead of batting round Abishek (41*) we chose to slog, lost wickets and only reached 189.
However this would have probably been enough but for some bad luck with balls in the air and a few dropped catches. On a wicket that was unresponsive our bowlers battled away, sometimes with the odd loose ball, but stuck to their task. From time to time they were rewarded but OE’s passed the target with overs to spare.
Loose shots and dropped catches in the end turned the game OE’s way when a victory of ODCuaco was a real possibility.
