LPBS/Focus Club Initiative
Colin
and Howard had a very positive meeting with the school on Friday 11th
February and it was agreed to form an ‘official’ partnership with the school.
We were prepared to have an unofficial arrangement but they preferred an
official partnership, which bodes well for the future. We are in the the early
stages of discussing who can offer what to whom, but once everything has been arranged, it
is something in which the whole Cricket Club MUST be involved.
There was a follow-up meeting with the Headteacher on Tuesday 15th March to hopefully cement the Partnership. Details to follow.
Hopefully we can have a similar arrangement in the fullness of time with St. Dunstan’s college and another school.
Following our meeting on the 15th March, the Head Teacher took away our Partnership agreement for signature. We also have been allowed to use The Warren Annexe for our fixtures on the 11th and 18th June and 6th August when we’re not able to use the County Ground. A leaflet prepared by Richard Ward showing the school what OD Cuaco C C can offer to the boys at Langley Park School was sent to all the parents at the end of term, so hopefully we might see an influx of Colts. The school were also prepared to add a link to our website on their website. We have also allowed the school fixture against the MCC to take place on our ground on the 5th May. Finally, on the 28th April there is to be a Soft Ball Tournament on our ground for about 70 boys and we hope to provide a buffet.
Clearly we don’t get any of this for nothing. We must be seen to assist with coaching, be proactive in recruitment and make sure that our liason proceeds smoothly, especially with regard to The Warren Annexe which, if we are able to use it on a regular basis in the future, would mean we would be able to use those funds being used for The County Ground elsewhere.
