Midweek XI 2017
OD Cuaco Midweek 158 all out (39.3) v Battersea Eagles 171 all out (30.4 overs)
So a mixture of threes and fours made up an OD midweek team against a strong Battersea Eagles band of wandering 'Ringers'. Their captains words!
Batting first Battersea had 43 on the board after four overs. Then slowly but surely the bowlers started to get amongst the wickets. Harry Deans (5-0-37-2) and the unlucky Robin East (5-0-30-0) were first up. Robin was particularly unlucky as over half of his runs came in his final over.
Billy Rouse (5-0-28-2) and Steve Sawko (5-0-24-2) were amongst the wickets and were followed by Imran Gill (5-0-19-0) and skipper Andy Hall (5-0-21-3). Shehryan Gul (0.4-0-1-1) getting the last man out.
The fielding was faultless with Rousey getting a superb stumping and a catch. Two catches each for Imran and Steve Smith. One each for Harry Deans and Graham Smedley.
So a target of 172 to win. All batsmen contributed. Shehryar (21), Rousey (4), Imran (20), Steve Smith (22), Graham (2), Robin (6), Billy, going for a six, (4), Steve Sawko (1), Bob (17 not out and injured!), Harry (23), his manic running injuring Bob! And Andy Hall (6).
A good effort but a loss by 13 runs. Two of the batting highlights were Harry hitting the bowler over his head for a huge six and Harry (now Bob's runner!) and The skipper running four when at best it was one and a half.
A good day.
