Official opening of the new OD Cuaco nets, Sunday April 29th 2012
It would be fair to say that during the wettest drought on record the OD Cuaco Cricket Club's net opening ceremony on Sunday went far better than any of us would have imagined. This was totally due to Gail's organisational skills and Andy Mew's thinking outside the box with his indoor training and indoor cricket for the Colts led by his excellent team of coaches.

Many thanks to the large crowd who were present to hear a welcome from 'H' and a response from The Mayor of Bromley, David McBride and from Min Patel the former England and Kent cricketer.

After the words came the cutting of the ribbon.Everyone seemed to wish to be in the photographs and braved the rain to see Min cut the tape and declare the nets officially opened.

The two photographers from the local press were extremely thorough in their work and we were subjected to a pleasant half hour in the rain whilst they got the shots they wanted which included Min nearly getting his first hattrick of the season when he bowled a few in a very damp net.

Our thanks go to Min and The Mayor for their patience and it was clear they enjoyed their time with us and stayed for refreshments and in Min's case a game of indoor cricket. |
Having returned to the bar two ducks flew in to inspect the nets but let us hope that this is not a sign for the rest of the season! |
