Tunbridge Wells away 22nd June
Scorecard
After the journey down to the Nevill ground, skipper Worsley decided to lose the toss forcing ODs to bowl on a pitch that resembled the M25. Alvey and C.Webster opened the bowling for the #bluearmy, bowling genuine wheels with 'C Dubz' bouncing out one of their openers and sending the others off stump cartwheeling. Once the openers had done their magic with Tunbridge two down after 10, it was the turn of the spinners. Rohan and Ainger tied down the middle order and continued picking up wickets. World class deliveries from Ainger and Ro saw the bails flying off into the hard shoulder of the road we were playing on leaving TWCC 70-6. J Caddy came on for an economical spell, with Ro and Chris picking up the final wickets so Ro bowled 8-1-22-3 while 'genuine wheels Webster' ended with figures of 7.2-0-30-4.
ODs would have to chase the total of 116. The highlight of the innings was however their number 10 coming out to bat. He trudged to the wicket, scared of facing the demon bowler Jake Caddy and placed his bat side in in front of the stumps, and said nothing. With Umpire Bob not sure what was going on, he asked the batsman what he wanted. "A guard" was the response, one which highly amused keeper Eash and Yogi.
Tea came and went with the cakes 'not as moist as they looked' and D Webster and Yogi went out to bat. Basically we are a world class cricket club. An Opening stand of 78 stand saw Yogi score a quick fire 39 before a lose shot saw the end of his day. Run machine Churcher entered the game and he did what he wants because he loves cricket. 'Finisher Churcher' as some refer to him scored a cheeky 14* and saw the boys home with Dan 'chap' Webster ending 45*, playing some shots that he would criticise should any others attempt them including a couple of slog sweeps over the leg side. Other than those shots, he played an almost chance-less innings seeing the boys home with 'the finisher' at the other end. We won so convincingly that two players even had the time to fit a round of golf in after the game. #wearetopoftheleague
Thanks to Bob for umpiring, the Patel Army and Mr and Mrs Alvey for their strong support, and Ainger and James for scoring

Bells Yew Green at home 15th June
Scorecard
After our superb second place finish yet lack of promotion last year, Sunday Development league returned once again to OD Cuaco. The team oozed youthfulness with only three players being over 21. Despite the lack of age, the team’s experience and skill was never in doubt we had high expectations as we kicked off our campaign against a Bells Yew side who had already lost their first two games.
Following long warm up with Andrew Mew, after they turned up umpire less, skipper Nick Worsley chose to bat. Losing Tom Churcher in the second over didn’t halt the rapid start made by Aaron White, as he and the worse Patel raced onto 36-1 of just 5 overs. However, the introduction of slower bowlers and two quick wickets quickly pegged back OD’s and we scored just 14 runs of the next ten overs. Nick and Eashan steadied the ship but Nick fell in the final over before the drinks break leaving us at 70-4. Following drinks, carnage ensued as we lost 3 wickets in 3 overs. Ainger and Rohan Patel, momentarily halted the collapse before Rohan also fell to another rash shot. The final two wickets fell and OD’s finished on 91 all out. The crucial cameo of 14 from Ainger boosting a still pathetic score. Extras was the 2nd highest scorer behind White’s 23, a sorry story for such a class filled batting line-up.
After a filling tea and an inspiring speech by skipper Nick, a buzzing OD’s side took the field, knowing that our quality with the ball and in the field, could pull off a miracle victory. Ainger and Alvey opened up, and after a solid start Bells Yew lost their first wicket, nicking off to Eashan of Alvey. Ainger first spell was luckless, his guile and flight not receiving any reward as he passed the bat of Bells Yew regularly. Rohan was brought on and in his second over, the doosra kicked in, bowling their top scorer through the gate for 18. Two overs later, and another wicket went down, this time lbw of Patel. Alvey then rejoined the party adding another wicket in his final over, finishing with superb figures, with 2-23 of his seven overs. At drinks the opposition were 48-4, with the game firmly in the balance as we knew their younger players were yet to bat. Another doosra from Patel and another lbw only firmed our belief that we could still win. His final over followed with another wicket caught at silly point by a diving Worsley. Finishing with outstanding figures of 4-13 off 8 overs had turned the game. Ainger changed ends and was immediately back into his rhythm clean bowling their number 8, 58-7. Simon Hunter came on, and despite only going for six from one over, with so few to defend it was clear that spin was to win. This prompted Nick to turn his arm over as an offspinner. A counterattacking effort from their most successful bowler set alarm bells ringing and Ainger finished off his 8 overs, having bowled superbly with little luck, taking 1-26. The youngest player in the team, Billy Rouse, entered the fray and was immediately rewarded with a wicket. Their number six remained however and was continuing to find runs around the ground. Suddenly, out of nowhere leapt a Patel, plucking the ball one handed out of the air. And then there was one. With 79 on the board, Worsley produced another ball of magic, hitting the top of the number 10’s off stump. A 12 run victory was completed out of nothing, and our attempt to go the season unbeated was off to a flyer. Roll on Tunbridge Wells.
