T20 Season 2017
Sunday 7th May Vs HSBC Away
Once again the might ODs take part in the yearly Kent t20 competition. This year drawing tough opposition HSBC in the first round.
The team arrived on a chilly Sunday afternoon. Some later than others, the Flying Nott and Ben Webster deciding golf was the best way to prepare for a t20. After Nick announcing that 'we were a shambles' Andrew lost the toss and they elected to bat.
HSBC started very well. With Ainger and Nick opening up the oppo swung hard and send the ball long. Taking a particular liking to Nick's first over. Ainger picked up the first wicket to a mis hit to deep cower. Taken nervously by Yogi Bear. Nick then got into his stride and settled in on a good length, causing the batsmen serious issues.
As the oppo motor along, Baylis picks up a wicket with his first ball. The batsman meanwhile took a liking to Cameron at the other end.
With the game poised and the oppo on top, captain fantastic (Ainger) in an inspired change call on Ed Nott. Cometh the hour, cometh the man, cometh the Flying Nott. Plugging away on a good length with turn and bounce. Picking up a wicket along the way.
The spell from Flying Nott slowed the run rate considerably. Leaving Ainger to come back for the last two to pick up 2 more wickets. Ending up with 4. HSBC ended on 175-9.
Ben and the Gazelle opened up knowing exactly what was needed. They started well cruising at 6 an over comfortably. The gazelle went for the cheeky Gaz-Scoop and was caught at short fine leg. Shortly followed by Nick (Run out... again). Aaron steadied the ship with Ben who also ended up running himself out....
From this point on although Aaron batted valiantly the game was beyond ODs reach. Wickets fell regularly and HSBC bowled very well. A good effort from the boys and a serious fight back in the middle and end overs with the ball.
