U16s v Chislehurst (Friday 22nd May)
Scorecard
Playing at Chislehurst, captain Callum McLennan ensured the best possible start by getting the opposition's opening batsman out - caught behind - on the first ball of the game!
Callum and Harry Deans bowled tidy-ly, Callum finishing with one for seven from his three overs.
First change bowlers Elliot Avis and Will Day took two wickets in their three overs each, while Sam de Vaux and James Berry both bowled well with plenty of dot balls. Tom Boyden returned one for seven from his two overs; Harry Duncomb conceded only four from his one over and young Joe East concluded the innings with one wicket and a run-out for only two runs from the last over.
The home team finished on 98 for eight - a gettable score on quite a small pitch. Chislehurst had other ideas though and bowled a really good line and length with some pace. Top scorer was Callum with 20, then Harry Deans who was caught on 19 by substitute fielder Henry Hamilton.
Sam de Vaux put in a solid performance with 15 not out, and Will Day chipped in nicely with 11.
Our boys were always just behind the required run rate unfortunately, and finished short of the total on 81 for seven.
Henry Hamilton did a great job behind the stumps and will be promoted in the batting order in the next game after a fine performance for the fourth XI on Saturday.
Well done lads and see you all next week, Hughie

Match report OD U16s v Bromley Town (Fri 15th May)
Scorecard
Relying heavily on younger players, and without captain Callum McLennan and stalwart Elliot Avis, this was always going to be a tough game against the strong Bromley Town team. Winning the toss, stand-in captain Harry Deans elected to bat first on the dry, sunny evening (Fri 15th May).
Opener Tom Boyden hit some great aggressive shots to get the innings rolling, but the wickets fell at regular intervals. Anchor of the innings was young Joe East with a display of watchful batting. Credit also to William Chaston for a quick fire 11 that pushed the score on. A defendable score on the board was made but the lads knew quick wickets were needed.
Skipper Deans opened the bowling and did the necessary - taking four wickets in four overs - and it was game on! Further wickets fell and it looked like the lads were set for their first win of the season. Sadly, Bromley Town dug in and held on, claiming a closely-fought win. A great match and inspiration for next week.

Match report OD U16s v Dartford (Fri 8th May)
Scorecard
Friday saw the OD U16s begin their 2015 campaign at home to Dartford U16s. We were without key players Jake Owen and Jacob Olorenshaw who have "retired" until their GCSE studies are completed, plus bowler Will Day had an injured wrist so couldn't bowl. A tough start...
ODs batted first and openers Callum McLennan and Tom Boyden put on 6 runs each before both being caught, which set a trend as five of the six wickets that fell were also catches. The ODs innings closed at 76 for 6 with Elliot Avis top scoring on 18 and Joe East a battling 13.
Defending such a low score, early wickets were very much required and in his second over Callum had the Dartford' opener for only 5. This gave the lads hope and the bowling and fielding was enthusiastic to the end. In particular, James Berry made a great diving stop at mid-on and Sam de Vaux bowled really well and was unlucky not to take at least on wicket. A great performance too by w/keeper Henry Hamilton behind the stumps helped the cause but good batting and a few dropped catches meant that no further wickets fell and Dartford won with a few overs to spare.
Things can only get better! Better luck next week lads.
